Analysis of favourite film title sequence - Research

The Fault in Our Stars

The title sequence for the fault in our stars uses a lot of animation and motion. This means that it required a lot of digital technology and stylised editing. Although it being simple it was effective and set a tone for the film as calm/sad music was played in the background. Throughout the title sequene it gave you drawings of objects mentions in the book. For example the rollercoaster. By doing this, the title sequence has become discrete as the audience won't know what it means until the watch the film. The writing of the credits was shown as white handwriting text, by doing this the title sequence suggests that it is playful which contrasts the sad music.

The credits went in this order:

  • Fox 2000 pictures presents
  • in association with temple hill entertainment
  • A film by Josh Boone
  • Starring - Shailene Woodley, Willhem Dafoe, Ansel Elgort, Natt Wolff
  • Based on the novel by John Green
