Analysis of title sequences - post 3

Cabin in the woods

As the title sequence begins, we are introduced to machinery moving and the sound of it fills the sequence. The camera zooms out so we get a bigger picture, which is a gate unlocking and the first words "LIONSGATE" appear. Clearly the film distribution company. The screen fades black and blood runs through it. We see pictures of drawings almost like egyptian art with violent imagery. Suggesting that the film is going to be violent. The credits soon appear in red capital letters "LIONSGATE PRESENTS A MUTANT ENEMY PRODUCTION". During all of this dramatic music is played in the background. The film producer's name comes up still in the red capital writing. The writing is mainly kept in the corners of the screen and aren't too obvious.

The scene dramatically changed to an advertisement that the audience are zoomed in on and the music is replaced by dialogue. It is clear that he film has started and the credits has stopped. However to change scene, big red capital writing of "CABIN IN THE WOODS" appears in mid conversation, scaring the audience as sudden music is also played. However the film continues and the credits come back. Sticking with the red style and capital letters the credits now have a added effect. On each name on the scream has a blood stain on it as if the writing has been "smudged". We are introduced to the main characters and learn that they are going away for the weekend.

What I liked about this title sequence is that the film continues to happen through the credits so as an audience we are able to get into the film right away. Also I liked the effect on the credits because it stays the same throughout the whole title sequence and slowly adds little effects like the blood stains which i found really effective because the little effect is what gives you clues and builds up the tension.

Russell Howard Good News

When the title sequence begins, fun music is played in the background and the protagonist of the show walks through a door that blends in with the background. Things are hanging in the air and it has a cartoon feel to it. Theres a bright green arrow that points left with the writing of "TITLE SEQUENCE" is black letters. Russell then walks in that direction and the audience knows the title sequence has begun. As he walks through, things fall in front and behind him. Most of them are headlines of newspapers with funny twists on them. "MPs hides MONEY on the MOON EXCLUSIVE" clearly trying to make a lighter situation of a serious one that had happened earlier that week. By the music and the effects, it is evident this is going to be a comedy show. The writing is in times new roman, the same as the newspapers which indicates that its going to be about news, if the title hadn't given it away.

I like this title sequence because it is different to other ones. It attracts a young teenage audience while educating them on what's happening around the world.
