Research- Analysis of title sequences- Post 3

Task
In this blog task, I will analyse two movie title sequences. These two movies are Zombieland and Evil Dead (2013).

Zombieland

Question 1. Which credits do we see & the order we see them in?

Answer: The credits do take some time before they arrive but when they do we first learn of the production company of the film. Then the cast names arrive and they tell us the name of the four main actors. Then the title screen appears. Lastly, we see the the names of the people that made the film like the costume designer, director etc.

Question 2. What font type is used for the titles?

Answer: The title font is similar to Eras Demi ITC. It has red coloured text with a white outline.

Question 3. How we see the font - Where do we see it in the frame?

Answer: We see the font in the middle of the screen and it is slightly tilted and is at an angle.

Question 4. What happens behind the font?

Answer:We can see that behind the font, there is a glass pane and a man with a crowbar smashes it with two people running behind him and chasing him. He breaks the glass along with the text with the crowbar and the title screen transitions into another screen. We also hear music playing and it is playing heavy rock music which fits the tone of destruction.

Question 5. What do you like about this sequence, why did you pick it?

Answer: I like this title sequence a lot because Zombieland is one of my favorite movies of all time and this title sequence sticks out to me because of that. Also, I think it is the perfect title sequence because it shows you what you should be prepared for when watching this movie. For example, zombies are shown and everywhere there is chaos with the destruction of the glass and this tells me to get ready for crazy and chaotic fun that this movie will give me.

Evil Dead (2013)



Question 1. Which credits do we see & the order we see them in?

Answer: Firstly, the title of the movie appears. Then, we learn about the film makers like the producers, director, costume designer etc. Finally, the names of the actors appear

Question 2. What font type is used for the titles?

Answer: The font is similar to a bold times new roman and it looks very interesting. Its colour is blood red and we can see some vines that seem to be growing within the text.

Question 3. How we see the font?

Answer: The text is in the middle of the frame and is coming closer towards us.

Question 4. What happens behind the font?

Answer: Nothing happens behind the font as it is just a black screen but we can hear the music that is very classical and has an opera style to it. Then the music becomes mysterious and dark.

Question 5. What do you like about this sequence, why did you pick it?

Answer. Similar to Zombieland, this is one of my favorite movies franchises of all time so that adds to why I picked it. I also like the this title sequence because of how weird it is. This is because there is some dark imagery shown in this title sequence. For example, we see blood pouring down some stairs and a finger being cut. This weird and dark imagery is very intriguing and it shows me the tone that this movie will have.
